An astrolabe surfaced—cast in orichalcum with a level of precision no early civilization should possess. It was engineered to align with specific celestial markers, not as a symbol but as a working device. If this astrolabe exists, then a forgotten civilization once stood before us—capable of seafaring, metallurgy, and astronomical design long before our accepted beginning.

✍️ For Chambers, authentication and possession could restore his standing and keep the Department of Cultural Origins at Brown alive. For Pendergast, verified provenance would crown his collection with an artifact whose implications outweigh everything he owns—evidence that we have lost more knowledge than we remember.

About the author

Hi! My name is Ron Crandall, I’m a writer of contemporary historical fiction from the U.S. In this blog I share my writing experiences and the contemporary adventures of my characters in various cultures in Southeastern Europe and Northwestern Asia as they try solve historical mysteries. The mysteries start prior to our written history - a classic example of those who hold dear knowledge, self sacrifice, friendship and bravery versus those who desire domination, deceit and ultimately chaos.
